Recipes using Rooibos Tea

Rooibos is a sweet, refreshing and versatile tea that can be incorporated into iced teas, fruit juices and cocktails or even in your cooking and baking. The following are traditional ways to drinks rooibos and some exciting variations:

Rooibos is traditionally made placing a tea bag in boiling water and allowing the water to draw out the flavor to the strength u prefer. Once the tea bag is removed you can sweeten to taste with sugar or honey or sweetener, some prefer to just add a slice of lemon. If you don’t like lemon then at this stage you can add milk or cream if you prefer your tea white not black

  • Rooibos can also be brewed with cinnamon, fresh herbs or lemon.
  • Rooibos also makes a refreshing iced tea using cold Rooibos with sugar/honey and lemon juice or blending it with clear fruit juices.
  • Powdered or frozen cold drink concentrates can be diluted with cold Rooibos tea instead of water.
  • Rooibos can enhance the color and flavor of your favorite soup, just substitute rooibos tea for liquid (water) when cooking.
  • One can also use it for extra flavor in sauces and to dissolve stock cubes.
  • Rooibos also acts as a natural meat tenderizer and can be used in a marinade for meat or chicken.
  • To make a delicious antioxidant rich breads and pastry, use your favorite recipe and substitute rooibos tea for water.
  • Soak dried fruit overnight in cold Rooibos tea for added taste.
